Cold starting problems on 182

  182
Hello folks,

I've been enjoying my 05 182 for a week now, but have started having a problem with cold starting. When starting the car, the starter motor cranks the engine, which then starts firing. After about 2-3 seconds (whilst in the 3rd key position) the starter motor stops cranking and the engine stops. I have tried starting the car straight away and also waiting for the lights (immobiliser, etc...) to switch off before cranking the engine but still have the same problem. A second attempt at cranking the engine immediately afterwards is always successful. I have an OBD 2 reader, and this doesn't return any fault codes. Otherwise the car runs brilliantly. Does anyone have any ideas? An immobiliser issue?

My car is still in warranty so is this something Renault would fix for free, or does it mean giving them a "pound of flesh" for the privilege?

Why if the engine starts do you keep the starter turning over on the starter? Or an I reading that wrong?

Sounds like the TDC sensor though at fault. Common fault.

It's broke, they should fix it, if they don't sew, and it doesn sound like your still trying to turn it over when the engine is running?

Hello edde. Sorry, to clarify the situation I am not keeping the starter motor turning over. The engine *just* begins to start firing and then I stop the starter motor as I assume that the engine has started but the engine promptly stops.

Update:

The Renault garage replaced the TDC four weeks ago and the situation has improved, but the engine still fails to start one time every week. The car's going in to the garage next week for another attempt...
