Colour Coded Mirrors - Almost Finished

  BMW 323i Coupe
My paint came today courtest of Auto Paint St Helens, so I got cracking with the job of colour coding my mirrors.

First two photos show how they look standard.

Did the normal prepping and priming. Went to Halfords to get some extra stock and I was asked for ID to buy primer.

It's been such a nice hot day that I've been able to take advantage of this and get more work done in a quicker time, but I'll make sure I take my time with the paint.

First coat is added.

And that's how far I've got so far, will allow it to dry for a couple of days before adding it's final coat, and then after that I will lacquer it, put them on the car and get some photos of the final piece. Quite happy with my progress.

Cheers guys.

Not yet, I'm going to leave it a week or so to settle as the lacquer can says to not use any compounds on it until then. Don't want to have to do them again. :(

I think the spoiler is next, that should look better though because it won't be as much work to sand down.

If I'm honest, the finish could be better on the mirrors, but I'm happy with them.

Great job, looks so much better!

Mine have been colour coded but not properly, it's just like some silver paper has been wrapped around it lol. Can't be assed fixing it though.

Did you do at least 3 coats of lacquer? And did you put it on quite wet? If you didn't thats probably why they aint that shiny.

And I know what you mean about Halfrauds asking for ID, they asked me once before aswell as they have to ask everyone apparently which is bullshit especially as the signs say not to under 16s lol.

I did 2 coatings of lacquer.

After she asked me for ID she said oooh it's the government not us. Bloody woman.
