Colour Coding with Vinyl?

Just thinking this could be a better way of matching paint colours and may be slightly cheaper than painting? Or is it too complex still; not mainstream enough?

Only problem may be the trim is slightly textured, so would the vinyl show through every imperfection?

Never really thought about doing it that way, i guess it could be done. But like you mentioned I think the texture would show through, unless you sanded it beforehand?

yea its possible mate but its difficult, because of the curves on the edges and sanding down would be needed as it wont stick

I dont think you would be able to match the colour very well. Vinal allthough glossy, tends to be rather flat, don't think you would be able to get the metallic colour and depth of painting. Just get them painted, may cost more, but be a much better result.

cool, some good insights there thanks guys.

came across my mind after seeing on here people talking about getting mirror covers carbon wrapped, but they are obviously painted before hand so obviously be a better surface to work on.

Problem is with vinyl you won't get the same flat mirror look finish you can get painting it.
