i sprayed my whole bodykit, its easy just take your time with rubbin down and prep and apply primer/undercoat rub down again with a finer grade, then apply loads of thin layers of paint this worked for me paint work looks the same as the rest of the car MAGIC!... but make sure you rub them plastic stips down plenty to ruffen up the surface and illl think ull need sum plastic primer beacuse its that horrible abs plastic stuff wont paint very well....

as again to start with use bout 120 grit as you need to get rid of all the bobbles on it then use some good quilty paint dont go to halfords if you can look around from 120 go up the grit levels to bout 800 then appy primier do a good few costs sandning between with 1200 then few layers of paint sanding with 1200/1500 then few coats of lacquer and then on last coat sand down then any imperfections in the paint use some rubbing compound to remove these

hi, did all my car, front and back bumper strips etc.

firstly i rubbed it down as said, but u know all that. the paint, basically i went to renault and gave them my colour code number thing (632), next day went back and picked it up. This colour was great and i used this on the side strips, and about 200ml of this stuff does all the side strips. Its about £15 for 150ml of paint and you get a free laquer. This was pretty expensive for me so, i went to halfords, and i know no-one thinks the halfords paint match is any good, mine was perfect. 300ml is £10, and seeing as i need 3 cans to do all my car, i needed to keep it cheap as poss. So this was good. there you are, sorry if its my life story.

cheers ollie

if they are textured theres basically 2 ways you can do it.

1: smooth the textured strips, start from like P180-P320-P800wet, then primer and paint

i really couldnt be arsed smoothing them all down like that when i did strips a few days ago so i sanded them down with P180 then P320 so they were dull, cleaned them up, and put a crap load of aerosol high build primer onto them.

leave this for a few days to dry and sink properly, if you leave it for a few hours then flat it then paint it, the lot will sink and itll just feel textured still, so leave it like 3 days.

after 3 days, sand it all down with P800-P1200wet, and add another good few coats of aerosol primer, leave that a few days, then wetflat that too with P800-P1200.

give them a good clean up, spray on your basecoat (fine coats).

you aint trying to get a finish with basecoat, your only trying to build up the colour and cover the primer.

that should be dry in an hour or so without heat, or 20 minutes with heat (airdryer/hot air gun)

then straight on top of the basecoat once its completely dry put a nice wet coat of laquer.

leave that 20 minutes or so and do another coat.

i did 3 good wet coats of laquer.

you'll probably need to polish them up as with cellulose laquer it tends to not give the shiney finish that 2k laquer does.

i wet flat the strips down with P1500 (p2000 is fine too)

and rubbed them up by hand with some G3 mopping compound.

Hi specta, um well i didn't need my car for 48 hours, sooo...

I obviously rubbed down the bumper but just got masking tape and taped across the line. Then made sure newspaper covered all of the unwanted bodywork. Then open the boot and make sure everything in covered, then primer, around 3 coats, rub down, then more primer, then leave to harden and leave all newspaper on, if u need the car, its relatively easy to re do the news paper, so dont worry about that, then the rest is as easy as what FM_AVA_696 said.

Ok, pics soon, looks real effective tho
