Coming back to a Clio

I sold my mk2ph2 1.2 16V just over a year and half ago for a Lupo GTI. Loved it to bits....decked on FK coilovers, 6 speed, leather, polished Compomotive TH-Monos. Sold that 2 weeks ago for a mk3 Ibiza Cupra that's on coilovers and mapped to 200bhp. I've had it not even 2 weeks and I'm already bored of it. Yeah it's fast and solid, but it just doesn't give me that thrill of driving hard in corners or power that's always there. So I'm coming back to the Clio.

Now here's the dilemma...couple of mates have 182 Cups, one has a Trophy, one has a 197 Cup, one has just got a 172 Cup. They're all amazing to drive or be a passenger in, but then I've got used to the leather, climate control, xenons etc. Saving 80kg, better suspension, no ABS plus nicer wheels and spoiler is all well and good, but then again the luxuries are a major bonus, especially with a girlfriend, travelling to Charlton and back a couple of times a month (100 mile round trip).

Plus I don't really want mondial blue, I'd rather go for the rarer iceberg silver, but then again tracking one of them down is a tough task. £3500 is my limit, plus an extra 400 on top for a K-Tec stealth and some Eibachs.

Is the Cup setup and weight loss really that noticeable? Of course I know the answer but as it won't be tracked every weekend will I notice the difference that much just using it to get to and from work with a blast down the dual carriageway/A roads in the evenings/weekends?

What doI do?

mate get the luxuries, I love the 172 cups but do however own a 182 with both cup packs, and it is awesome, it will definitely put loads of smiles on your face when you drive it with loads of spirit

  Iceberg 172
I got my iceberg after having a mondial cup. Much happier.

Stick it on coilies though... I'd go for suspension over an exhaust every time.

Get the 172! The cup doesn't have the luxuries, u'll barely notice the weight saving and when you put the eibach's on the handling will be roughly the same!

Coming back to this thread, I bought my new 172 today.

Opted for a flame red ph2 172, 71k on a 51 plate, FSH. Completely standard bar an aftermarket back box, the rear badges being wrong and no splitter.

Just spent the afternoon raiding K-Tec, Kam Racing, my-tyres and here for some goodies.

Will get some pics up eventually when it's up to scratch, but I'm very pleased with my purchase!
