Computer won't boot from cold

I'm working on relatives computer at the moment. Basically if you turn the computer on in the morning it gets to the end of the XP splash screen and hangs on a black screen. If you press Reset then the computer boots fine. Once you've reset it everything loads fine and it shall shutdown/turn back on or be reset.

I can't find anything wrong with it, any ideas anyone?

Format it mate. Sounds like a windows fault/software problem, try checking to see if youve got boot viruses.
