Confused on cd player

right ive been told that certain cd players are better than others

i have a mutant 4x50 head unit and i payed £59 brand new. i chose it as it had an aux lead for my ipod, its also got a 12" sub running from it.

Are there really better head units? If so in what way?

im a bit of a noob

Yes theres thousands better - sound quality being the big issue

i paid £340 for my head unit and i'd call that mid range from a proper I.C.E point of view. But it depends what your after, i probably would have been happy with a £50 stereo!

You can spend the earth on HU's but its only really worth it if the rest of your I.C.E is upgraded aswell, I used to runa car full of Uprated Speakers so I needed the Adjustability that more Expensive Alpine HU's gave me, Adjustable Bass Levels etc. but also they just run slightly betterinternal components so give out a crisper sund,

Go to your local ICE Specialist and ask them to talk you through it as its much easier to get an idea when your there using them.

The simple answer is 'NO'.....

There are more expensive Units that will out perform your Mutant Unit on every front, but none that will at that price.....

Manufacturers are now churning out many different entry level units that are aimed at the motorist who simply want an 'apparent' upgrade, but the saying, "You get what you pay for", still holds true.....

Main reason for wanting to change mine was to have the option of using the ipod so i got a sony HU that was made for the job, even that was only £100 so you don't have to break the bank to have quality, it is true though that the more you spend the better quality you will have.
i will then have 1500 songs at the push of a button and thats good enough for me........but the speakers are rubbish so that will be the next job.
