Conroe mobo

Is this a decent mobo for a Conroe 6600 build?

I'm very loosely considering building TheBeast3 based around this and a 8800GTX. Still early days.

Yeah good choice of board, the P35 chipset will keep it future proofed for longer when Intels next batch (Penryn) of cpu's are released Q3 afaik.

Forget that, 975 isn't going anywhere now. P35 is the future of the platform, both for Intel cores, and AMD's crossfire stuff. Put DDR3-1066 in with the P35 and it will blow anything out of the water.

Needs must mate. Have you seen the Crysis footage? That game is going to own all but the very best hardware. That Conroe setup will overclock into the stratosphere, making an uber gfx card actually worth the effort

Fair point m8 - Intel certainly seems to have gained the upper hand for quite a while now. I'm still liking my current setup. It plays what it needs to fine now (especially now that I've solved the heating problems - check out my biatching threads on SLi Zone ) - but as always, the time will come to upgrade.

I just hope that AMD delivers the goods on some butt-kicking CPUs. It's never a good situation when one vendor (i.e. Intel) holds all the cards.

I'm going to stick with what I've got for now and do a full Conroe/DDR3 rebuild a few days before Crysis hits the ground. I figure DDR3 mobos and RAM will be cheaper, the longer I wait.
