cooling fan

Hey.

Seems my engines cooling fan is dead. Major overheat on way home.

I want to replace it myself, any idea which fan is ok to fit?

I need it fixed by Friday so need the fan delivered Friday.

Any guides on how to get the old one out?

Seems decent and i think Renbreakers are ok

I know i would not be buying a genuine OE Renault one at the price above

If it's over heated whilst travelling along then there are bigger issues than the fan.

It's fine whilst moving. Was 25 mins of stop start on a46 that did it.

And your sure it's the fan. I'd be very surprised if it is.

Check the fan is getting power to start with.

Well I wired it upto a 12 battery and it didn't budge

Does it come on with air con. Fair enough if you wired it up but we're you at speed or traffic when it overheated

Traffic when it happened. Also air con sucks unless I am moving freely.

Placed the order for that fan, they have given me 3 months warranty with it.
I want to test it before i start pulling apart the front end of my car, is it possible to simply plug it into the cable and run the engine for awhile and see if it comes on?

I don't know when it should start up, should it start up if i stick the AC on?

Did you allow the engine to continue running when it was overheating? May have bigger issues

Nope, When i saw the needle pointing up i pulled over and turned it off right away. left it with hood up for 30 mins. Started it back up and it was at mid temp, traffic was gone so drove home and it was fine on motorway..

It didn't go all steamy or anything like that and the needle had an extra couple of notches to go before max #, it just scared the poo outa me thinking my nice car my go pop.

Starts up fine no issues, had my mate look over it and he said it looks and sounds fine just that the fan doesn't boot into life and it didn't work when i plugged in a 12V 7AH battery into it..

shoulda put the interior blowers on max heat/max blow and sweated it up a bit would have at least helped.

Helped with what? Cooling the engine?

Whats the best way to heat the bad boy up fast so i can get that new fan to kick in? Once i see it working its going in!

new fan is dispatched and on its way via TNT for delivery to me at work tomoz
When home will see if it works and hope to have it fitted on saturday after Tyre Kings have had a go balancing my wheels and aligning the steering.

So... won't be able to get my car back on road till next Saturday ;(
Bloody school main office decided to loose my parcel between there and my office. It's 100 ft FFS!
Can't get a replacement until after next Tuesday so may aswell have a moan at the caretaker at work until mine is found.

Am so annoyed as it's put my plans back an entire week!

Update: for whatever reason the fan now works when ac is turned on.
but it doesn't turn on when ac is off.
The water does pump when engine is warm though and water doesn't pump when cold.

Not sure what the issue is now. May just run it with ac on lol
