Found out one of my rims has a slight buckle in it ! Im blaming it on the massive pot hole i hit the other day. Ive written a letter and taken pics to send tot he highway department. Its one thats been filled in before so they know its a problem!

Has anyone ever won any money and if so how much?

Cheers tom

My girlfriends dad sued their local council because the Sat Nav in their car sent them down a road (?) which turned out to be a potholed track, bent one of the 17" rims on their car and bust the tyre. The council paid for the tyre+new alloy.

Hope that helps!

yep misses has had them pay up. they will only pay for damage caused, ie rims and maybe tyre, but the require proof (photos and bill from garage).

Yer i got the photo and the rim is definatly buckled coz i saw it wobbling on the balancing machine myself! Is there anything else i can do to help me?

The tyre is fine is just the rims. Mistake it was both passenger side wheels. Did one before but never got arouns to writing the letter!

Really anoying as the steering wheels wobbles like anything when im on th motorway!

They may be slippery, if the defect was not there on their last routine mainainance inspection, they may not be liable. I was unlucky enough to buckle two alloys at a cost of £680 after I lost my claim - as you have pics (dated?), a quote for the repairs and reported it strait away that sounds like all you can do - good luck.

all of em set aside money EXPECTING claims - cheaper than proper maintenance.

report immediately to their pothole line, head of Highway maintenance or similar.

might take a while.

NEED Pics, description, bills, polite letter

Still waiting on mine nearly two months after the event !!!!

The thing is youve got to rely on the very people you are trying to claim against to tell you the truth as to whether the road was inspected in line with set guidelines!!!!!

Surely theyre gonna say - Im afraid sir, after lengthy investigation (sitting on our thumbs for a few weeks) we have concluded that the road was inspected according to our guidelines - so f**k off.
