Cracked Laptop Screen

I have an Acer Aspire 5021 and have recently dropped it and cracked the screen. Cant see a bladdy thing now, its all black with a petrol style waterfall effect
Should be more carefull to be honest. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement for good money, ie not £450 like Acer want me to pay. Also, its a 15.4" Crystalbright TFT LCD display, so will any 15.4" screen fit?

Scutch - talk to AaronC. He just had a look at my Fujistu-Siemens that blew its screen. It would have cost me about £400 for a new screen including fitting.

In the end I just bought a new laptop from Aaron.

Been told House Insurance might be the way to go. Will have a look into it today sometime

yeah the home insurance will cover you more than likely.
we would just replace it though.

screen is more expensive than the laptop. i claimed for mine on house insurance, read you policy before claiming tho as there are a lot of exclusions.
they will even give you the option to buy back your HDD etc if they write it off.
its normally cheaper to buy a new laptop than replace broken bits .

i buy a lot of cheaper laptops from ebay and sell them to people i know that want a computer cheap, ive been lucky enough on ebay to get replacement LCD Screens (mostly 14.1" IBM's) for arround £60 sometimes and its easy enough to fit them, bit with yours being a newer laptop with a better screen you likely wont get them that cheap on ebay but have a look
