Cracked manifold

H

HickiN

As per previous post.... i went to renault and they have said i have a cracked manifold... and the crack is at such a place that they can't get in to weld it.... they have costed me the following;

Manifold + gasket = £588.52
Clamp x2 = £5.91 + £6.71
Nuts x 9 = £1.09

ontop of that is VAT and 3 hours labour @ 75ph...

does this sound reasonable or should I be looking elsewhere for a replacement manifold?

Any info is appreciated.

I have the 2 years extended warranty and this doesn't cover exhausts apparently.... Does the manifold technically form part of the exhaust or the engine? (as they cover engines)... is it worth arguing the toss?

Cheers,

HickiN

Manifold is part of the exhaust system. Is it cracked on the flexing part? Price seems to be alright as the manifold is expensive and the subframe needs to come off to get it changed.
