Cracked Sump Guard and Ghetto Fix

The underneath of my Monaco got caught today driving through a car wash (wasn't using it I'd parked round back of the garage and used it as quickest way out ). Reversed back out but it ripped the sump guard off and cracked it .

Thankfully no damage to the sump but the guard was a state :dapprove:

Phoned up Renault to order a replacement to be told it's £93+vat Thought f**k paying that much so went about fixing it myself by plastic welding but couldn't get it to stay in position to work.

Then I was inspired by Fletcher's "ghetto fix" splitter so grabbed the cordless drill and some cable ties.

Got the stapler out to fix where it was ripped off.

Now back on the car for cost of three cable ties and a staple

Oh BTW, it's not a sump guard if it were it'd be more durable than brittle plastic
File B1N if you do trackdays, effective oil cooling for free.

Phoned up Blackbushe Motors but it's not something they keep in stock. Why don't you get down the scrappy yourself and get a Cup splitter? :rasp:

it won't protect anything, bin it, yours is missing the sound deadening anyway

Think the sound deadening must have been disolved by oil collecting on it thats leaked from the rocker cover. Washed off about 3 litres worth before taking the pics!

its a drip tray to hide the completely inadequate machining on the renault gear selector linkage into the box, they piss oil out from the factory! lol!

mate cup splitters are so last year, everybody and there dog has got a skoda piece. im taking it old school with splitters.

Not worth the time it took you to fix it tbh.

I took mine off to fix an oil leak and never bothered putting it back on. If it wasn't full of oil I'd give it to you for nothing.

At least it keeps the leaking gearbox oil off your driveway and collects it in the undertray till it overflows.

But i guess its just designed to keep road crap out the engine bay not protect the sump from knocks etc .
The sumps higher and the subframe will take the hit anyway.

mostly for catching leaking oil, but it does offer protection from stones, sounds silly but I have seen sumps before that have cracked from serious stone chippage!
