Problem with the engine or dogbone mount,

The car has been suffering from a sloppy gear selector which i put down to a worn gearbox mount (battery tray mount) which was reoplaced last week and hasn't changed anything, its got worse, on my way to work before their was a hard cluck back and the gear box wines like mad, as its dark i couldn't get underneath to look but i tried to rock the engine thinking that it would move but ti didn't move at all, i'm confused because the dogbone is supossed to be new, has anyone else ever suffered anything like this??

do u think it could be clutch related ?

although if theres whinning sounds then i would say that that is the gearbox

yes me..

i had a bush bearing replaced by reno lastweek. sorted!

i couldn't get reverse or fifth, the gearbox feels so much tighter now, nothing to do with the mounts.

just looked at the invoice, actually got two done.

part numbers were
R77 00 743 133 (gear rod bush)
R77 05 010 093 (gearcange bush)

however thats a mk2 ph1.
