Crappy Renault chocolate locking nuts

Last week when I took my wheels off, I had trouble with the locking nuts, as on the Renault ones, they have a thin ring around the nut to hold the locking key in place when you turn them. Only thing is, these had cracked on mine so it's a pain in the arse to undo them, as the keys just slip off unless done very carefully. (They are exactly the same condition on my g/f's car).

I'm tempted just to put the four normal bolts in and do away with the lockers, as no doubt Renault will charge about £700 for another set.

Can I buy any locking nuts that'll fit, from halfords or the like? Or shall I just not have any?

If I was to get a puncture, I couldn't get the wheel of with the wheel wrench in the boot, so I'd be stuck.

I'm in exactly the same position. The lockers are s**te! When I had my car second hand it had two locking wheel nut keys in the pack - one was completly shredded! Now, my other one is getting as bad, and am really struggling to get them off. I know you can get replacment keys - the key has a number stamped on the side. If you take it into Renault they should be able to get a replacement. The question is, will it be cheaper to get a new set or not? I'd be very interested to find out...
