Hire Car Baby
Hi there...
Bought a lovely Black 182 about five months ago and have been enjoying reading the threads ever since - never really felt the need to post but have an (maybe) interesting an ongoing accident tale to tell...
Sat at home in Framlingham in Suffolk on Monday doing some work, next thing there's a big bang outside - thinking oh shite my car's parked there I wander outside to take a look...
This young girl is standing in the middle of the road with her pug 206's front wheels akimbo - turns out she had her hair done for some fashion shoot and coming round the corner into my street her hair gets in her eyes and the next thing she knows there's a crunch :angry
As you can see she's whacked the rear wheel doing god knows what damage to the axle etc and also shoved the car into the wall causing cosmetic damage to the wheel and panel on that side.
The police are called because we're blocking a one way street and I spend the next couple of hours making tea, directing traffic - telling "inconvenienced" drivers where to get off and comforting the poor lass and her mum - generally being an round good egg (there's always a first tme)
The car was picked up on Tuesday and yesterday i got a phone call from the garage telling me that Claims Fast - the claims handlers - had written the car off - the repairs are going to cost 69% of the car's value and their threshold is 66%!
Got a call today from Claims Fast confirming the above and telling me the claim was now reverting back to my actual Insurance company - Hastings - to write the car off and settle up with me. Spoke to a very nice man from Hastings, but he tells me that Hastings actually go up to 80% of value and as long as the garage's estimate is accepted by Hastings' own engineers they will be repairing it.
So hopefully I'll be back in the car before not too long.
