Crashed Clio Extreme 3

  Megane 230 R26
A friend of a friend recently wrote off her Clio Extreme 3, identical model to mine, in an end-over-end roll. She was quite bashed up but mostly ok after a short stay in hospital and the fact that she's around to tell the tale is testiment to the safety and strength of the Clio!

See my blog post for the pics, taken by my friend at the recovery yard. As you can see from the state of the car she had a very very lucky escape, I think it's safe to say if she'd been driving her old 1990ish Fiesta that she owned previously, she probably wouldn't be around today...

foook me the bonnet looks like its made out a paper! i crashed mine just over a year ago at like 70mph but i think i managed to slow it down as it didnt take long me to fix it - engine subframe bumper and stuff - but man she's looky to walk away from that blue peter his a paper mache one we destroyed earlier model

Looks like a lot of rear damage too which also probably helped her out, looking at the actual car frame around her door it doesn't look too bent.
Nice to see she escaped though.

what the he;l happend looks like a rite mess... no air bags tho :S
Left a road on a bend (national speed limit), nearly cleared a ditch, pitched forward catching the other side and went end-over-end diagonally, seems the largest impact was to the rear driver side obviously, but didn't actually have a big enough front-end impact to set off the airbags. From where I'm sitting now I can see mine from the same angle through the window, it's quite amazing to think hers used to look the same...

Her car is probably the third or fourth most damaged car I've seen from an accident (I go to quite a lot as I'm in the fire service) and all the others were fatal. In fact I've seen less damaged cars from a fatal accident also!

Yeah... the driver's door is actually in its original position pretty much which gives a good indication of how much the B-post moved in. Even that degree of movement is quite a lot though considering you're sat right next to the bloody thing! You can probably see from the pics her seat rotated with the twisting of the chassis and moved back a bit, which probably moved her away from the incoming bodywork, apparently they're designed to do that with the seat being fixed to carefully chosen points.

christ she did it properly!!

the first pic, it kinda looks like a ka
Yeah that's what everyone says and was my first thought! My gf has a Ka. With the flattened-down bonnet and the angle you can see the rear-end damage from in the first pic it's almost the spitting image of one, until you get around to the back and you see the mangled mess that's creating that shape.

Somebody else said it looked like the 206 the Indian kid made on the Pug advert where he gets his elephant to sit on it :)

Well I find I just have to think of the people we could save, but of course it's never easy. I'm mostly ok as it's people I don't know, of course my biggest fear is it ever being somebody that I do know. This girl's accident happened just outside our station ground so I keep thinking now how she might not have been so lucky, and had it been a couple of mins further along the road then we'd have been dealing with it. I always tell my mates to take it steady because I don't wanna have to go and deal with them!

Yeah, I can't stand Saxos, my sister has one and if she ever drives badly in some way I have a go at her because the car isn't exactly safe :(

Hehe sorry mate didn't see that was your car... although you commented on it first :rasp: To be honest any modern car is more safe than all the older ones anyway, you're off to a good start having an airbag at least, that's the most life-saving feature in my experience.
