182 Trophy
This has been an ongoing issue for quite a while now.
Three different mechanics across two different garages have looked at it now after I failed to diagnose it, and they've had no more luck.
It sounds like it's something under a lot of load, kind of "high friction" creaking (a bit like a broken spring noise, actually if I remember my last one correctly) as I stop and go. I've also observed it whilst turning on the spot/at low speeds I think.
The car needs a suspension refresh, so suspension, top mounts, and poly bushes for wishbones and ARBs were on my list. Is there anything else I should be looking for?
I checked for play on the ball joints, and there does appear to be some "side to side" play when wiggling the wheel, but it's minute and doesn't seem to be on the lower ball-joint but perhaps rather on the rack (same on both sides).
I guess my question is whether there is anything else I should be checking out? I'm going to be pretty upset if it remains after the suspension refresh, as even if there is nothing noticeably broken or worn, the noise alone kind of ruins the enjoyment of the car for me.
If it makes any odds, I recently changed the gearbox and had the subframe down - all subframe bolts have been checked though.
Thoughts?
