Creating DVDs (with .AVIs)

Im looking at making a 'commercial' style DVD with .AVI files I have on my pooter.

The two progs I have tried so far only accept .MPG files (DVD architect & DVD Author).

Are there any which directly accept Xvid encoded AVIs or will I just have to spend an age converting them all?
