Cross-threaded wheel bolt

Was gonna change my front discs and pads yesterday as I have nice shiney Brembo HCs and Brembo pads waiting to be fitted, but when trying to remove one of the wheel bolts it was really hard work. Knew straight away it was cross threaded and it probably happened a year ago when I had my tyres fitted. Only problem now is I cant get that bolt back in at all without it crossthreading? Can you simply re-tap the hub or is it not going to be that easy?

Have to strip the full swivel hub out and have the spigot hub pressed out of the bearing. Probably knacker the old bearing getting it out so might as well fit a new one at the same time.

So in a word, no.

This happened mine about 2 years ago, I stopped outside a mechanic's (a mate) after getting new tyres on.
As the tyre place put the nuts in with the buzz-gun they crossthreaded 2 of them in the passenger wheel and left me with a very noisy ride home.

My mate rethreaded the hub for me and it's been fine since :)

Retapping it is an option but you need to be aware that if its beyond repair the bolt will come loose, just something to keep an eye on after doing it.

I'll try re-tapping it then, and keeping an eye on it to see wether or not it works its way loose
