Cruise control and limiter switch question - Cruise retrofit to 172

  2004 Clio Sport 172
I am attempting to understand the technical specs / functionality of the OEM cruise and limiter switch in order to implement my own non-OEM solution. Can anyone who has an OEM cruise and limiter switch please measure the resistance, on the pins of cruise and limiter switch, between the contacts the green and yellow wires would connect to, with the switch in both the limiter and cruise positions?

By shorting the contacts associated with the green and yellow wires I was able to get the orange limiter and SET--- to illuminate on the dash.
I assume, as these green and yellow wires appear to be the only two wires from the cruise and limiter switch to the ECU for the cruise and limiter functions, that the cruise function may be activated by a particular resistance, instead of the short between the two wires, to activate the limiter function. Hopefully that makes sense.

I am using this logic as the four discrete cruise steering wheel buttons are effected through two wires by resistors on three of the four switches, and short between the wires on the fourth for the cancel function.
i am also intending to install my own version of aftermarket switches and resistors in lieu of the steering wheel switches, so I don't have to replace the steering wheel clock spring, cut or replace airbag and fit steering wheel switches.

The wiring diagram shows 3 resistors within the switch (although it is a schematic)
I'm converting a 172 to cc and am waiting for the cc switch to be delivered.
If nobody comes up with the figures you want, I'll measure the resistances when the switch arrives.
Ian.

for the cruise buttons on the wheel its 0, 300, 600 and 1200 ohms.

can't remember which one is which

The CC/Limiter switch offers no resistance just shorts the appropriate 2 wires to signal to the ecu whether CC or limiter is to be engaged.
Aren't there just 2 wires for the switch functions cc/off/limiter?

I retro fitted cruise to my 172. You need the switch to activate cruise (also turns esp off and has dimmer for the dash). New airbag squib (with cruise wiring). Steering wheel. And pedal switch.

Thanks for all the replies thus far.
Yes I already had the info relating to the four buttons on the steering wheel and required resistors.

i am currently battling to figure out the functionality of the cruise limiter switch such that I can implement my own non OEM switch.

The CC/Limiter switch offers no resistance just shorts the appropriate 2 wires to signal to the ecu whether CC or limiter is to be engaged.

Ok, are you sure on this?
i measured approx +12VDC on the yellow wire and as near enough as zero volts on the green wire with ignition on.
By shorting the yellow and green wires together the orange limiter symbol lights and SET--- on the dash.
Grounding the green wire does nothing as it is close to zero volts anyway and grounding the yellow wire blows a 15 amp dash fuse. Hence the reason for my assumption that the two yellow and green wires may involve a certain switched resistance for the cruise function to work, or I am simply missing something?
There are five wires on this connector:
1. Yellow = as above
2. Green= as above
3. Light grey = unknown function measures at zero volts
4. Blue = +12v via headlight switch for OEM switch backlight
5. Dark grey = ground I assume for ground side of backlight

Thanks in advance.
P.S green and yellow wires are referenced in bottom left of diagram which this post links to.

Ok, update. After typing out the above and thinking about it the key was obviously with the light grey wire.
i have now been out to the car in the garage and proven the following.
Yellow = common wire for switch +12v with ignition on.
Green = limiter function when connected to yellow wire.
light grey = cruise function when connected to yellow wire.
Blue = +12v via headlight switch for OEM switch backlight.
Dark Grey = ground for OEM switch backlight.

i have all the switches and resistors which I have bought from Jaycar and will now get on with installing them to the OEM panel where the OEM cruise limiter switch would go. I shall also be install the two mini MOM-OFF-MOM toggle switches to the left of this panel for the '+', '-', 'R' and '0' functions.

thanks again to all, I will post a pic of the finished product.

All the info you want in relation to cruise control is in my guide in the "Guides" section :)
