Cult Cars...

Which older cars would you consider to have a cult following?

Off the top of my head, i can think of a few. The thing is, where do you draw the line between cars you like, and a true cult car? I'm unsure TBH.

I've tried to keep it to older cars that are rare in the UK. There's loads i've missed out though, so i'd like people's input.

Lancia Delta Integrale
Lotus Carlton
Escort Cosworth
Audi S2
Audi RS2
Sierra Cosworth RS500
Honda Civic EK9 Type R
Nissan Skyline GT-R R32

Thoughts?

Renault 5 turbo 2 is probably cult, although I still love phase 2 GT turbo's but mint ones are like rocking horse s**t these days.

EK9 is a terrible car to put in that list, will allow the Nissan as i liked Gran Turismo . I wouldnt ever say that a Type R would be a cult classic far from it. To be honest not many jap cars would be.

Audi Quattro the original also the Diana convertible are classics, Mini and the 205 gti.

Jap stuff has as much if not bigger cult following than the English/EU stuff.

Try telling that to any Japanese enthusiast. It's Japan's Clio Williams

Was needling you as i know you are looking at some Japstuff.
I know they have a big following but if i look back in 15years time ill think Evo/Impreza not Type R/civics etc. I guess im from birmingham and i see loads of jap crap with baked bean zorsts everywhere and i really despise them

Depends what you mean by cult. For me, it's cars that any enthusiast will respect and appreciate. Lancia Delta, Lotus Cortina, Lotus Carlton will all fall into that group. A 99% of car enthusiasts will 'get' them. Show them an ek9, most will be 'wtf?'. I'm not a fan, every non-biased review I've read puts them below the breadvan as a drivers car.

Mustang has a big following worldwide so would be high up on my list of Cult cars.

MK1 escorts as well.
