Cup/172/182 autochanger cable

Ive just removed the autochanger from my 172 but no way can I get the cable out. Does anyone know if the cable is already likely to be in my 182 or am I going to have to fork out for a new one?

If so, does anyone have one?

Mate, I practically had the top of the dash off and I still couldnt budge it. I may have another go tomorrow but I cant see it coming.

hence I was asking the other day about it.

Apparently the cable is 86pounds!!!! Still cheaper than a cd changer order

I know how much they are, hence why I tired to hard to get it out. Ill try tomorrow once Ive calmed down a bit.

is it snagged on something does it move freely.

pm one of the RTEs or a guy from the import center.

Its stuck fast, right where I cant get my hand. It wont move in either direction. Its cable tied but the door side, but thats not whats stopping it. Its stuck just above the glove box.

have you lied down upside down with your head in the foot well with a torch?

Just take the top dash off, doesnt take long and will save you £80.

Yup Tom, I have contorted myself and got my head right under there.

I think thats the only option Pete. I might try and get the old man to give me a hand tomorrow.

DOnt cut the cable youll spend ages trying to get it back to gether again.
Not sure how the facotry install them but try and tape up the end efore pulling it though the dash as it should not get stuck as much.

I have a nasty feeling its cable tied somewhere behind the dash, either that or the foam coating is snagged on something nasty.

Im tempted to go for a new HU when the car arrives, been seriously considering the 9833 or 9835 HUs from Alpine.

Especially if I have to pay 90quid for the cable, I might as well put that money to an mp3 HU.
