Cup for track/road toy?

  williams and trophy
been looking for A car thats track / road friendly.......

obviously u cant see that bit

which is the better buy between a trophy and a cup is next question........to that my answer would be the trophy.

but if its just for fun, and to be quicker round track he asks for opinions....to that my answer would be the williams.......well within his price range, quicker than 172 cup or 182 trophy round track....trophy being the closest.......and cheaper to boot......wots ur problem??

I think any Clio RS from ph1 to 182 cup or cupped would be mint around a track with some decent coilovers, tyres and stripped out. But standard i would go 4 the Trophy every time, handles so much better than a standard 182, ive owned both and the Trophy can carry so much more speed into, around and out of a corner than anyother. Ive played with just about every Clio RS and came up top everytime, NOT on a track though. Thinking of the Nurenburgring 2009 so might see someone there and be proven incorrect!

I'll probably get a few infraction points, but hey worth it for a good conversation!
I've never driven an old school escort, can't wait to though!

Tempted by a 2.8 Capri as a toy though, bit of weld in the diff and happy days!

Personally prefer the mk2 looks, but what makes the mk1 better (genuine question)?
Your's sounds like awesomeness on 4 wheels!

if only id appreciated it at the time mate lol.

my dad was into the fords in a big way back in the day. had countless capris, 2.3 colognes, 3.0 essex s mainly, 1 rs 3100 . and ...........hides head in shame......2.8 looky likey 1.3 capri lol

there wasnt a rite lot of diff between driving them tbh. was always arse end out action with a decent 1 hehe....but was mainly the stigma..mk1 vs mk2. personally i preffered the looks of the mk1 with bubble arches than i did the mk2 with x pack. each to their own i spose. and the rs nose cone on the mk2.........why???? lol prefered the harriers for mk2 meself tbh

I'm taking my Trophy to the Ring and doing some Renaultsport trackdays and you can play with some serious cars at the ring..........

Maybe there crap drivers though.

Aye, hindsight is a beautiful thing!

Yeh my dad was a big ford boy, had most of the good ones! Lotus Cortina, first person in Derby to get his 3.0 Capri, escorts etc, then moved onto Jags.

lol at the 1.3 rep. good stuff!

still a dream of mine to own a mint mk2 'scort, plenty of time though, a clio v6 (yes i know i know, just love them to bits!) and a mk2 golf gti come first, but maybe after that!

  williams and trophy
for the golf.....gotta b the mk1......lol

mk2s ok......but again the mk 1 is an icon.

and a v6 clio??

why....just cover ur 172 in superglue, and drive thru halfords shop window. bingo. and itd probably be quicker.

lol

but as for the lotus cotina....he had a couple of those...but he got kinda hooked on the cooper s es after 1 had handed his arse to him lol....think that was back in 67 lol........which is where my love of the mini comes in too i think lol.

Prefer the looks of the mk2, plus the fact they are 1/4 the price of a mk1 for something i can build up and make my own!

The V6 i think is just amazing, rubbish car in many ways but on pure presence I'm inclined to disagree!

182, get it right ;)
As soon as I can insure a V6 at 21 then one will be on my drive!

  williams and trophy
yeah they do look mean in ur rear view......but thats exactly where they stay.

in ur rear view

Depends if the car in front is a 1.2 ;)

Or to be fair, a williams in a straight line would get mullered by a v6, so not in the rear view!

I'm going sleep before you hunt me out and kill me!!

  williams and trophy
lol. tbh i was quite surprised at spa. thru the twisty bits the v6s were mullering me. was down the straights i pulled it back n passed em hehe.

just goes to show.

Good stuff, can't wait to get mine on track, spent enough on it getting ready.
you're mk1 (i'm assuming here) must have a fair bit of work to be pulling on a V6?

  williams and trophy
not really mate. ill timed cams and map for a completely diff engine................ but hey

its seen its fair share of 172s trophies etc.... hehe
