cup side strips Vs 182 side strips

Ive been looking at a couple of cups and they seem to have plastic side strips with the same texture as non painted ones, just painted over, where as 182 side strips are painted and smooth like rest of the car.

is this a cost saving thing, and is it the same for the 172?

The 172 and 182 have smooth painted mouldings. The Cup is as you describe

i have noticed this too, i thought the cup ones had faded and thats why they look different, didnt know they were actually supposed to be different.

Yep the Cup ones look pretty poor if mine are typical of the breed. Gonna try some Autoglym bumper stuff on them as they are looking really dull.

god mine look awful! nothing seems to get rid of that dull plastic look!

shame cos when you clean the car they stand out even more

Use the Autoglym bumper care stuff (green stuff) makes them look almost painted and lasts for ages.

The side strips on my MEG Turbo are the same as on the Cup...

Like neil said, Autoglym bumber care (silicone), keeps it looking good for longer (but too much of it will attract road grime).

and xenons are extra too I understand?

True... Ill get them done when I do my skirts and spoiler....

Not fussed about Zenons... just the fact that my hedlights dont level themselves!

they are colour coded just painted over the normal plastic moudling not smooted ones, thats all.

yeah its a good feature, i get flashed sometimes when my xenons shine at oncoming drivers!, they are set perfectly I want to tell them as they adjust themselves.
