Cup spoiler on a phase 2 172

  monaco 172
Hi guys.

I'm on the lookout for a cup spoiler to go on my monaco 172 but I've got a few questions.

1 - is a 172 cup spoiler exactly the same as a 182 cup packed spoiler in terms of wiring etc?

2 - is it just a case of bodging the wiring to get the brake lights to work? I read somewhere that the plug is different to a non cup spoiler

3 - do I need cup boot lid shocks to stop the spoiler hitting the roof or is this only the case if a trophy spoiler was fitted?

I believe it's a direct fit and plug and play. I've read differing opinions on the struts however.

1: Yes

2: The Cup spoiler brake light uses a small wiring harness to convert it to the standard plug, make sure you get this when buying one. If not chop off the OE plug and bodge if you want to, not really a bodge if done with decent parts as the OE plug isn't great.

3: Only the Trophy uses the different struts, rest are fine with regards to clearance.

And 4: Don't crush the wiring or washer hose underneath when fitting it, there are recessed bits for them and also don't chew up the screw holes when fitting as it's only fibreglass and will need self tappers or something else if you do, so make sure it fits and the brake light works before doing up the bolts.
