Cup Suspension

I have got a meeting with my Reno General Manager, RTE (Renault Technical Expert), and a bodyshop person tommorrow re the mega probs with my Cup.

After 7000 and almost year, it has had new seat and runners, new cat, new heat sheild which still rattles, new steering wheel - still grinds when turning, 6 new alloys (4 all flaking and 2 damaged at dealer), back brakes binding on overnight, suspension clunks and squeeks. And today I noticed that my spoiler it starting to crack at the sides! I have threatened them with a lawyer and trading standards etc - but they want to talk with me 1st, and resolve the probs on the car.

Anyway, I know that there is a common fault database that Renault use - someone on here mentioned the name of it sometime ago. Anybody remember it? I have this meeting at 3pm tommorow - any sugestions on how to go about it folks?

Give them the keys and demand a new one. Sounds like you have given them enough time to make yours a good one.

Dont just threaten them...get a solicitor to to send them a letter, shouldnt cost much.

Good luck

PS check your front jack points....if youve jacked it up more than a couple times they will have probably started to bend over.

Its called the "ACTIS" bulletin - its issued to dealers and details known faults and the procedures to follow for repairing them. Had my "front strut tolerances" sorted and front dampers replaced as a result of it.

Cheers,

Just checked the jacking points and the offside one has bent over on itself. This is not good! Does this spell trouble?

i also have a cup and have had a few problems with it now, i get the same clonking noise from the suspension, the steering also grinds when turning, a few rattles it will be the 5th time i will be returning the car in 3 months, every time i take the car back they never seem to find the problem. I also purchased the car nearly a year ago last october. I know what you mean it can really piss you off big time. My main problem at the moment is that my tracking seems to be way off. Every time i track the car, the first few days are ok, but after a few days it gets worse. The front end does not feel right at all and never has been for a long time. I am at the point now where i just want to sell the car because no one at renault seems to care about the problems i am having. I have had the proper cup tracking settings done but it does not make a difference.

Ive noticed some creaking and clonking on the front of mine too, which is a bit dogy seeing as Ive only done 2700 miles in it. What I have noticed though is if I take it on a good run on good roads everthing smooths out and feels sweet.

Though when its cold on short journeys everything seems a bit jerky and creaky.

At the end of the day its a quick car and the faster you drive the hotter things get, so for everthing to work at high tempertures you may have to sacrifice something when its cold.

Well only a few hours to go and I will have them eating out my hand. Going to take evrything out of the car, leave it with them and speak to a lawyer in the morning. Nobody should have to go through this sh*t.

The only slight concern is that I have been taking the car to another dealer other than the one I had orgionaly bought the car from. Today it goes to the origional dealer for the 1st time since new.

good luck with it, I gave my one back to the dealer. They offered my another one but could not gaurantee that the new one wouldnt be the same. I got most of my money back.

I seems that Renault have marketed a car without really developing it, they all seem to have the same problems.

Do not buy LS52 XXC, this was my old car........ in case anyone is thinking of buying.

Renault UK could not have been less helpfull. If you have the car on finance, then you should inform them as well (if you havnt already) as the car is technically theirs.

Good luck again

Jay cup

Yes.... it just means they bend them back out and paint them. So the structural rigigity has now been lost. Havent jacked mine up again since but i could bet they they will be see my smiley face again soon!!!!

Just got back from Main dealer in Edinburgh.

Basically told them that enough was enough and that I want a new car due to all the probs and hassle over the last 10 months. The General Manager said that everything will be fixed on the car so that I can have it back, but I insisted that I dont want a patchwork quilt of a car once the cracked spoiler, cracked paint on the lower front bumper and the jacking point have been fixed. (along with all the other outstanding probs)

She will get a bodyshop and a workshop report tommorow and phone me with their findings - and to discuss what action to take from there.

There was also another Cup in the workshop at the time for suspension probs. Surprise surprise. Reg. ***YSY

Just had a couple of phonecalls regarding the state of play wi ma motor. Firstly, all the mechanical problems will be put to rest with replacement parts etc, secondly, all damaged bodywork will be replaced and painted. But wait for it.....the prob with the jack points...they want to cut out and re weld in new jack points!! Oh yes. A welder near a 10 month old car...erm..no. I have told them to keep the car and get me a new one sorted.

The jack points are part of the structure of the car, inturn in my opinion, if the jack points are soft, what does that make the rest of the car?! Told them that I would feel safe in the car again, and not accepting a car that has been welded. I will inform my finance company of this tommorow - who have already told me that they will support this complaint.
