Today my so far faultless 172 Cup (two years old tomorrow) developed a really loud banging noise when accelerating or decelarating at low speeds (30 and under generally), anything above that is fine which I thought was odd, I took it up past 5000rpm and there were no problems at all, only ever at town traffic speeds. Its not the usual knocking that comes from the front mounts or anything like that (I already put up with that!), its not quite as mechanical sounding as that particular 'quirk'.
It sounds like its coming from the inside somehow, around the area of the boot on the drivers side (which squished my first impression - that it was a loose exhaust or something) and its loud enough to be of considerable concern.
Any ideas? The boot is empty but when I get back from work I'm going to completely strip out the rear and see if it still does it. If so its going into Renault...which could be fun considering its Christmas.
