Cutting metal from CAF area

Can I cut the majority of this piece off to improve airflow as I want to have my caf pipe pointing at this area. Will it cause any structural issues?

Structurally I doubt it, but it ducts air from the front grille towards the airbox anyway so not too sure if it'll help at all

On a standard box setup yeah, but I was looking to run the caf facing forward, and this is the only space, albeit small, which might work. Otherwise I'm just sucking the warm air off the radiator
