Cutting out in reverse

Evening,

just bought myself a 2003 172 cup for £2200 looks amazing with loads of service history.

done about 100 miles in it and its started cutting out in reverse????

if I reverse back then put the clutch in ready to select 1st it just dies???

only just bought the thing so any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

hi. im guessing manual gearbox yeah?
how does engine idle
hows it like on idle if you rev up to 3k and then let car idle?
