CV Boot Gaiter Thing

  Not got a car
Just putting my cup spliter on and noticed grease all in the inside of the wheel, and a big boldge of grease stuck to the gaiter along the cilp.

So im asuming its split.

How much am i looking for it to be replaced? :dapprove:

Cars cost me so much since ive had it.

Might just be the circlip that has failed, quite common. Buy a new clip and some new grease and put it all back together, 30 mins and only a few ££'s - job done.

mine failed its MOT 2 weeks ago on these, both clips had snapped, my mate did the work, hey presto it passed!

well this car was supossed to have been through its MOT in June just before i bought it. So far it needed 2 new tryes as the old 2 were perished, Front disc and pads as it was metal to metal now the gaiter.

Can you report MOT staions?

  Mondeo TDCI 130
You can, but imo there is no need!

It is upto the tester if he feels the tyres are overly perished, pads if you can't see them you cant test them! CV clip could of come off this week!

surly they test the brakes? there was no meat on the pads at all, actually scored all the discs.

  Mondeo TDCI 130
Yep, but you would be suprised, they can read good with no material worth a toss! If there was no evidence of metal on metal at the time of test, you can't fail it!

As above, you can only test what you can see and feel when shaking the wheels. If you're brake lines are rusty, coat them in Waxoyl, cant fail it as you cant rub the waxoyl off to have a look.
