IMO get a refurbed drive shaft form the likes of GSF car parts they are only around £50 you dont have to mess around with getting the old joint off the shaft etc.
the rubber bit is just a dinamic damper and dus not really do anything and the shafts on renault clios are random at f**k there is about 4 differant lenths you can get you need to mesher them before you order
the company just sent me this.. im trying to get a refund and they are trying to give me the run around i think.

Hi
We have spoken to a Renault Specialists and they have said that the driveshaft supplied to you is the correct one for your vehicle, the rubber piece on your driveshaft is to balance out the driveshaft, the one we supplied you comes already balanced. As for the size difference your driveshaft is the compressed size, whilst are driveshaft is the free length size.
what do you mean by fully extended? surely they should all be the same length?
the car recently went in to get a wheel bearing done, when it came out it was not right and i was told it was the cv joint.. there is alot of play in the hub and the garage are blaming it on a faulty flange. when the new driveshaft is fitted the wheel moves in and out causing the engine and gearbox to rock from side to side, i presumed this was due to the shaft being to long?
