Dangerous ABS problem !

  Clio 182
Hi

i have a 2004 182 around 5 months ago I lost all stability assistants, every time I start the car it's fine but after around a mile or so the abs and traction control turns off and tells me to stop , hasn't really bothered me tbh , but the other day , I had no brakes ! It was as if my abs was engaging and there is nothing I can do

It's quite hard to explain , but basically.. If I start the car and put my foot down I don't have any brakes at all until the engine drops to around under 3k revs but if I drive it about normally it's fine, and as soon as all the abs and traction control lights come on the brakes are 100% (other than not having abs ) I am really puzzled with this , and is so dangerous , when it first happened I was coming up to a main road ! Luckily it was late and there was nothing there ! Otherwise would of been another 182 off the road

need help ASAP
thanks mark

Yes , it's as if the abs is kicking in , but the pedal doesn't go down even a mm , no brakes at all ! Until the revs drop or the abs and traction lights come on

Sounds like ABS lock out. First port of call, abs rings on the front shafts and rear discs. I'd put money on one of them been fubar

Mine did the same thing when I changed my rear discs and the ABS rings were the culprit then. Properly scary situation. Handbrake should still work, but they are woeful on Clio II's.

ODB2 won't tell you anything but it is most likely going to be a reluctor ring causing the false trigger.

Get under the car and visually inspect each ring looking for cracks in the rings structure. Find and replace exercise
