Dash Help!

just got myself some direct replacement LED bulbs to go behind my dash to make it blue, I've installed the LEDs but it looks absolutley rubbish, can hardly see the blue glow that you are supposed to.
I've noticed that there is an orange coloured plastic that is behind all of the dials, is this effecting the blue coming through or is it something else?
can anybody help?

i thought they were smd's not led's...

nah its a mk 1, their just bulbs that you can replace.
