Dash Strips

  Clio :)
Finally getting round to painting a few parts on the wifes car, will be starting with the dash strips first and after quite some time of searching couldn't find a guide specifically for it?

Found one that relates to side strips which is

Degrease and sand down the badges.
Primer
sand 1200
Primer
Sand 1200
base coat
sand 1200
base coat
hand paint lettering
laquer
laquer
cure for 48 hours

Should I just use that as a basis? I want to achieve a smooth finish instead of the original bumpy/dotty surface...

Also aswell as the dash and side strips, I want to do the glove box so any tips/advice would be great!

Thanks

What colour are you thinking of doing the glove box? Don't think it will look right IMHO. Maybe get someone to photoshop it and see.

General basis is right, sand, paint, sand, paint, etc. Took ages to get mine smoothe though but I am not very good at spraying

Thing is the original interior in the 1.2 was cream/white, however I changed say 85% using clio sport bits (seats, trim ..) and now that 85% is black and the other 15% white which includes the glovebox :( ... I know it's small and trivial but still seems to annoy me.

Is there a special type of paint to be used? otherwise gonna order some craft & hobby enamel cans...

Thanks

Yeah I see what you mean, I'd look at changing the dash over tbh. Painting it while it's in the car won't be a good idea, so it would have to come out. As it would need to come out you may as well fit a black dash instead.

I'm betting after a year or so the paint will get scuffed/scratch and the interior will end up looking like crap. After it's scratched the only way to fix it to make it look remotely good will be to sand the entire thing all over again. Is it really worth the hassle?
