**Dastek Unichip question**

  20VT Clio & 9-5 HOT

Right due to plans possibly going tits up (as usual) does anyone know what type of unichip is right for the valver? I have heard there are 3 types that cover all cars, and certain cars use one and others another.

I think I need the 1st type which supports distributor ignition.

Anyone know any more about this?
Cheers!

sh1t that was a fast reply.

well i was thinking of saving some cash and buying a used dastek, and getting it remapped!

whats the deal with SMT6. lots of pennies?

nope.

Better than several variations of the dastek, more user friendly, more sophisticated and can do just about anything you need within reason.

PM andy GDI, he sells, fits and maps them.

No there was someone on here the other day saying they could supply the unit for under £100.

Its a box that you loom to the pins of the ECU and then Plug a Laptop into the other side of the box. You use a gui which looks quite easy to use to set everything.

Gui can display all A/F and revs in real time as your driving along. (you can even do replays of your power runs)

Been quoted £600 by Andy at GDI for this fully fitted and setup on my 172 Mk2

Yeah I remember that thread, although all i was wanting to do was purchase a 2nd hand unichip and just pay £150-£200 for the remap. Iv seen a few for sale, but they are from different cars and maybe the wrong ones out of the 3. iv emailed Dastek but awaiting a reply!

Although i might think about GDI, just trying to save some £££ as my gearbox is dead at the moment.

Anyone had one done there, and if so what sort of results did you get?

Cheers

Think someone could get them for £100 on here but thats supply not fit. God knows how long that takes and the thing with these programmable ECUs is that they are only as good as the person who programmes them.

if you can get hold of an eprom programmer you can copy the chip for f all..a blank costs less than a quid! lol

chipping is a right business.

Chipping is, but copying a chip isnt quite teh same as running a programmable system.

What you paying for isnt the equipment as such, but the knowledge and setup skill used to tune each injection point to the optimum AFR for that rpm and load point.

A chip....copy it and you still have no idea what your actually doing.
