Dave's E55 AMG given a quick Detail!

Car  E55 AMG
Dave had his car at a garage to sort and electrical with issue with the heating. f**k knows why he didn’t do it himself but they had it for over a month and then when he went to pick it up he caught them drying it with Blue Roll! Safe to say he went mental.

Anyhoo it needed some attention anyway as we’ve been well lazy with details lately. My new rotary still hasn’t arrived so I didn’t get too serious.

Not very dirty, granted.

Car was doused in AF Citrus, as was the wheels and all arches and door shuts.

The car was littered in f**king tar, probably one of the worst I’ve touched in a while

Rinsed, washed and then dab dried with a new waffle weave towel I’ve been meaning to try, not tbf

Then time came for and favourite combo, haven’t used this in years! Safe to stay, I still really like it and it will do until I get the rotary and some free time to spend on it

Great work!

Such a fresh looking car, it's hard to believe how old they are. If I ever grow up I'd definitely be considering one.

Lovely stuff there and nice photos but the plates, especially the rear, look odd but I can't put my finger on why...?

Thanks :)

The front one, some dickhead crashed into it. The rear just looks weird because the L on the end makes it look not central.

Does anyone know what other OEM wheels would fit this? @MaLicE ??

Apparently only certain offsets fit due to the brakes. It's going to need some winters desperately and the standards have to come off for a refurb.

Cls 55amg wheels fit, most 55 amg wheels fit though sl' scan look a bit odd... Or c63 wheels etc....

Is it stock?

And guessing it needed a new heater duo valve? If so its a 2 hour job max lol.

This shape E class is the best looking E class Mercedes have ever made, everything else afterwards just went all shouty and chrome and completely lost all elegance. (although the AMG GT has clawed some of it back)

This was around the unreliable era though IIRC.

Love these!! My boss had one back in 2006, stupid fast thing, although his latest e63 is even more daft. Contemplated getting one before the M3 tbh, 'tis on the "family car" list lol ...

Standard for standard my e55 was pretty much the same pace as a c63, modified unless the c63 is running a supercharger the e55 destroys the c63

There are a few parts on them that can be a bit unreliable on them, namely the air suspension and the brake system (doesn't have a mechanical system it's all electronic and has a use limit when it needs replacing) but the engines and gear boxes are pretty much bullet proof

The car is stock yep, don't think he has any plans really. Loves it as it is.

Yep that's the valve. It's safe to say we will just do everything it needs in future.

Oooo
Price, condition, tyres?
They're in excellent condition. I'll get them out of the garage tomorrow and take some pics and measure tyre depth. From memory there is a slight surface corrosion patch on one wheel no kerbing on any of them. Tyres are 4-5 mm I think. Can discuss price via DM if interested

Tell him mbworld forum has every guide he needs to do anything on the e55, to be honest they are great stock, apart from the near silent exhaust lol, but a pulley, headers and tune makes them a completely different car :)
