did you get called to a standby at faringdon i see A10v was on the station..faringdon are still at the barn now.. unlucky..:rasp:

Yup, I guess you probably heard us arrive too as they sent us on a blue light standby (rare nowadays). Normally a 2 pump station gets a standby when both the pumps are out, but in the case of Faringdon they often get them when one has gone out and they can't crew the other :S B3L went out to the barn fire and there was insufficient crew remaining, then we got the standby at 17:10, but we were returned at 18:00 not because B3L had returned but because they had a crew after 18:00 for B3V.

They operate a weird system there, a whole load of people go off call at 18:00 and a whole load of others come on, so they could get a 2 pump shout at e.g. 17:55, fail to crew the second one so Wantage go instead, but at 18:00 they could make pumps 3 and Faringdon's second pump could roll... god knows what they're playing at!

Remind me, I think you said your Mum used to be at the station or something?

Cool stuff mate, I met your Mum a few times before she quit. I've met your old man a few times too, see Wantage quite often now they have the canteen van!

I didn't need to hear that from you, I keep my ear fairly close to the ground I'm wholetime at Rewley Road in Oxford as well so pretty much hear everything that's going on, plus see Tony Whiting about quite often. Faringdon aren't doing themselves any favours with their silly little games with the scheduling since they got taken off that pilot pay scheme, because it's just going to lose them their pump!

Btw there's one of the Wantage guys who also rides for Wallingford, who has a ridiculously quick Evo VIII, dunno if you've ever seen it? I can't remember his name, he's a Crew Manager (as in LFF) at Wallingford but I don't know his rank at Wantage...

no have not been to wantage station for years.. might have to pop round and see my ol man..1 of the reasons she quit was because every1 preety much ganged up on her because she was trying to do good for the station and most of them dont give a toss!!! she was the only 1 who done 24h cover 2!! nevermind these things happen..

Some of the lads from my watch (i.e. B1L crew) spent the afternoon on standby at Faringdon and then seem to have got a job, now Witney is there on standby again...
