Daz's Ph1 172

  Peugeot 308
Well, picked this up last weekend for £2000. Completly std Ph1 172.

75k, just had a 'service' generally OK condition yet needs some tlc.

Next day I venture down to Ktec for some coilovers :approve:

Fitted them last Sunday, taking 3 hours in the process (never done coilovers before and im average with a spanner :sleepy:)

Also, decided to get some ph2 Tail-lights and a Leon Cupra splitter.

Gave the car a quick rinse over aswell.

Heres some pics.

Excuse the minging wheels, they have seen better days! There next in the list for a refurb ;)

Thats all for now folks.

Swheeet :)

If the wheels have been badly kerbed they might be buckled. Takes nothing to buckle them.

Decided to have a busy weekend on the 172...

Got bored so decided to paint the brake calipers :S little freshen up was the general idea...

Also bought some clear side repeaters from Renault :approve:

Went to Ktec on Thursday and picked up a new std gearbox mount and uprated engine mount.

Also carried out a Full service using Renault parts inc oil (I can get 20% off at Renault) and carried out CAF modifications.

The lack of engine cover is down to the fact I couldnt be arsed to re-fit it at the time :rasp:

Routed one of the hoses to the original place and removed the passenger foglight and mounted the other hose to the original surround (had to modify the surround) Fits well and have a nice induction roar.

Im just about to start a new job, so before leaving my previous job, took advantage of the nice discount I could get...

Just after some new wheels now, seeing as the OZ f1's have seen much better days and only 2 wheels IMO are 100% straight.

Thats all for now, heres some more pics I took today.

This is the exact ducting I got.

Good tough stuff.

In terms of the foglight, Removed the actually light and glass from the inner surround. I then smoothed the surround on a sanding disc machine to allow the ducting to fit over. chucked a jubilee clip around it, then screwed it back into place. :approve: Really easy to do.

looks nice.. can i ask how easy is it to change the engine mount, whats needed ? thanks

The engine mount takes a matter of 5 minutes mate.

Sorry I cant remember the exact socket size's I used, But its just a case of getting a jack under the engine (use some wood to prevent damaging the sump) Jack it up to allow clearance to get the old mount off. Secure the new mount in place and drop down again. make sure everything is tightened up...job done!

Right, its been a while since I updated this thread.

A couple weeks after I updated, the clutch went... Bit s**t tbh

Ordered up and got a standard Valeo unit fitted. :approve:

Around the same time, the backbox done its usual Renault trick and fell off, so fitted a full stainless ktec stealth system with de-catted downpipe. (no silencers = loud) will post up a vid later :rasp:

More subtle mods include silvervisions and HID's meanwhile...

Next up was wheels, I really couldnt stand the standard bent OZ's anymore so jumped on the TD 1.2 wagon, fitting my Parada Spec 2's also.

OK, no pictures with this update. But its also a log for myself to keep track :D

Monday I popped upto Bristol to FCM Motorsport for 4 wheel alignment.

Overall impression is of the Ktec coilovers is they are a good value for money after being set up and what not. Car feels pretty flat and sturdy, although I would say they are a lil bit harder than the Gaz coilovers on my old 172, this causing abit more bumpy-ness on our poor roads.

Also popped to Castle Combe to get my car sound tested ;) 92db with Ktec supersport and de-cat unsilenced down pipe! Result!

Tuesday I popped down to Ktec to get my dogbone bushes replaced as mine were nackard!!

The car feels excellent right now and ive booked a Castle Combe trackday for the 29th October :)
