De-Cat and viper?

  172 Cup
hi :)

great site !!!

i've just bought a 172Cup and want to spend a little money on it :D

It's already got a Cat back stainless exhaust on, i was thinking of getting a Viper fitted, plus a de-cat pipe

just a couple of questions if i may?

Will a de-cat pipe have lambda sensors on? i don't want any lights on permanently on the dash, is it just a case of bolting the de-cat on and attaching the sensors?

how hard is it to fit a Viper cold air feed? is the viper the best? is a Maxxon worth the extra cost?

if i fit either, or both of these, will the engine management system work out any fueling issues and adjust itself automatically? will i need to have it remapped on a rolling road just for an induction kit and decat pipe? or is it just a case of bolting both on and that's all?

cheers for any replies, sorry if these have been asked a million times :)

me being in a similar situation would do the following as -:

forget the viper for now , fit the decat , most will connect as you have said , the lights may come on or may not , its just the way it goes .

then i would get the inlet manifold matching , you'll see better gains the have an induction kit .

if you have money left over , i would get an ITG maxogen induction kit , if little money then buy the itg filter instead .

hi mate dont go for a viper buddy if you are going to get an induction kit get a bmc cda one goin on here presently for around 115 compared to the viper they have the same design but the bms is fare bigger and better quality imo and has definately made a difference to my car just needs a remap to sort it
but i am getting my decat first then inlet work and then finally a remap should see me have a higher rev limiter and better driveability through the range

cheers for the advice

i'll have a look in the fore sale section, see if it's still for sale

if i just get a de-cat pipe, will i need a remap, or would it be ok without?

what will it do to the MPG?

you wont need to remap it , but the benefits of the remap would be better as it adjust to the mods you have done .

since my exhaust upgrade i'm doing alot better mpg 32/33 around the town

Don't bother with a Viper a decent filter such as an ITG panel filter will be fine and look at the Yozzasport decat plus AWT inlet as there cheap mods.

if more than one person is saying a viper isn't the best thing to spend cash on, i guess i can take it as being true

I'll have a look on yozzasport at an inlet manifold (although i have no idea what they are, LOL )

I've got about £1k to spend. It's got eibach lowering springs on with the geometry already set up, plus drilled front discs, greenstuff pads, braided brake hoses and uprated brake fluid already (from previous owner).... i want to do a few other things now

i like my viper tbh , but if i had the choice again i'd spend a little more and get the ITG maxogen , but you could spend the money elsewhere on the car to obtain better gains , speak to a specialist like fred or benR on how to spend your money .

but imo .... exhaust and decat and a good induction kit is the best place to start

i've just paid my £5 for membership :D

i've got the original exhaust i want to sell, plus the original springs...so, £5 to join so i can list an advert is money well spent !!!

hi mate the inlet is better being matched to your spec mate to be honest so i would save the money and get it done at a specialist...hillpower local to me are 184 including fitting for a craftman job!! get a bmc mate you wont regret it buddy yozza rates them very well

daft question time... but what exactly is an inlet?

can't i ring somebody up 9yozzasport, gdi etc) and order an inlet then? do they need my car if i buy one?
