Dead Battery, advise

few issues starting the car this morning, seemed to die when turning the key. anyway, i knew it was the battery however had my fingers corssed it was as a result of a faulty alternator! called the RAC out, confirmed alternator was ok, however alittle weak?! (nothing to worry about) and after completing a battery test, confrmed a new battery was in order..

my question is... the battery at fault was pumping "390" Amps... the one in which i got replaced today by a small local garage is "470" Amps!? the bloke advised it was the correct battery for the make / and model of, so maybe the one before was wrong?

how many Amps does your batterys give? and would you say £45.00 was a fair price to pay for a new battery?

Cheers

50 Amps Wongy? you sure m8.. it takes more then that to wake my hamster! do you mean maybe 500amps?

Daz,

The RAC bloke advised i get a 400 Amp based battery, the one on the car was clearly labled "390"he suggested this was not ideal and would need atleast a 400. When i got down to the garage and said.. they looked it up in the books and said that 470 was advised for the Clio16v.... thing is when i pulled up, they didnt even know what car it was, all drooling over it saying "thats a nice car m8, what is it?" not very re-assuring is it

Mine only had 300something originally.. the extra 100 or so amps this new battery develops is a lot better! Much nicer starting and keeps the stereo going longer!
