Dead car

Went to go out before and basically everything was dead. Starter motor didnt even click and the lights were on but very dim. Got a mate to come round with jump leads and charged it up, took them off sat at idle for a few minutes and it died again. Charged again, this time abit longer, took them off and guess what... it died again. this time though it did start and took it round the block and all seems ok now.

What could of caused this? Nothing has been on though the night ie the amp. and its never happened before, always started first time even in the cold weather.

Alternator sounds forked or battery on its way out

Has been ok today,guna get the batery charged though and get the alternator checked out, dont fancy getting that replaced though hope it aint gunna need changing.
