Decat a 1.2, worth it??

Da

  Less
or a complete waste of money? We're talking about Mk2 Ph2 here and I plan on simply getting an old cat and bashing the insides out so I can keep my standard one for MOT time
Worth it or a waste of time...? :S

You probably won't see any gains but if you can get a knackered cat cheap then why not, it'll sound nice.

Well I felt a difference in performance :) It will make a difference in noise but I still have the standard exhuast on so I cant really tell you how much by

i did it to my 1.6 8v, and it was awesome, just was too loud to turn upto appointments in with my already very loud exhaust.

Mine was only so loud because my exhaust is already really loud. its a 2" bore straight through to 2 motorbike style cans.

I was thinking of doing something with my exhaust but after speaking to a couple of people about it, didn't think it was worth it.

^^ why not. one of the best mods ive done to my car. sports cat has made it loads more fun to drive, and gave me a perfectly flat torque curve - which is nice

asked one of my mates who has had clios and knows a bit about cars. He said if it was him, he wouldn't do it as it wouldn't be worth the hassle and that I wouldn't notice any performance difference.

But I'm open to other suggestions mate - in what way has it made the car more fun to drive?

its just generally more nippier pulls nicer throughout the range, theres no loss of power etc etc. i have got a viper as well but noticed the biggest diff when i put the sports cat/stealth system on. heres a photo of my rolling road graph so u can see what i mean about the torque.

i put a decat on my mk1 1.4 and made it pull better through the gears its a bit noisy and since putting it on the car seems to smell of petrol a little more than it used to, maybe worrying!!!
