Decat confusion

Being reading searches about decats.
First can you fit one and make the engine light go out, if so how can you do this I heard about ecu flashing and putting a spacer on lambada
How much louder will it be I have a scorpion back ATM.
What is the best one to get?
And what's the difference between a decat a sports cat and a silenced cat ?

For what car mate?
Engine light, either get one of them lambda spacer mini cat things or just cable tie the post cat lambda up somewhere out of the way and bung the hole in the decat up.

Obviously will be slightly louder with a decat and more raspy, the silenced decats hardly make a difference.

Decat usually means a straight through cat replacement pipe
Silenced decat is same as above but has a perforated core with baffles around it to drop the noise level abit
Sports cat is a more free flowing cat with less cells per square inch than an OE cat, sometimes get engine light on with them fitted and take longer to be useful to the emissions

Ive got a sports cat on mine. Only tine I get eml is doing long journeys on the motorway.
Usually cost a bit more but is easier than keep swapping a standard decat out for MOT.

It's a ph2. 172 I understand now thanks guys, how difficult is it just to take out emission light.Would a scorpion one be the best to match or should I just get local place to make me a stainless pipe ?

I have the scorpion decat on mine to match up to the RS192 system I have. No EML for me, but I think that has something to do with the RS Tuner remap, as the Lamda sensor is in there and plugged in without a spacer.

My car is already mapped, guess if II get decat its best to do it again, think rs tuner is better than local tuner ?
Does rs tuner read fault codes etc ?
