The 106 GTi may be quick for what it is, but it has a smaller engine, less power & less torque, so of course the 172 will win.

My mate has a 106 GTI, and yes we like to have little races from time to time, but we ultimately know that my car (172) is going to beat his everytime, thats why i never act like a pr*ck (shorty) and go mouthing off how much i beat him by.

its cos some of the 172s are underpower especially a lot of the mk2 ones, the 106 gti can often keep up with these to 60 no probs, but you would expect the 172 to be quicker so it aint note to brag about

Mine did have 141bhp (proven on a RR) though, so quicker than standard. Up to about 100mph I could stay in touch, but after that the Clios have the legs.

Better if a few corners are thrown in though, as this levels the playing field.

i used to have a 106 gti and it was fast, but not that fast. If some gti owners think they can beat a car with 50 more bhp then they are living in a dream world!

They are nice cars and Id love to have another one - so dont think that all gti drivers are dicks! Ur bound to get drivers of any cars who think that they can beat others ie 2fast4u?
