Come on if i had a 172 id not concern myself with these new hatches that cant yet catch my valver. Tune your 2 litre beasties and scalp some Type Rs, or are you scared? ;)

So 172bhp beats 120bhp... like thats fair. :cry:

The 106 GTi may be quick for what it is, but it has a smaller engine, less power & less torque, so of course the 172 will win.
 


Lets not forget Saxo/106 owners who claim to be well within reach of 172 owners though.

I beat a Vauxhall Zafira and an old Merc SL500 on the way to work, owz about that then :)
 


My mate has a 106 GTI, and yes we like to have little races from time to time, but we ultimately know that my car (172) is going to beat his everytime, thats why i never act like a pr*ck (shorty) and go mouthing off how much i beat him by.
 


lol boys, my thoughts exactly, id love to give you a run to make sure these arent quicksilvers or people who dont realise there racing until ur in second
 


its cos some of the 172s are underpower especially a lot of the mk2 ones, the 106 gti can often keep up with these to 60 no probs, but you would expect the 172 to be quicker so it aint note to brag about

Mine did have 141bhp (proven on a RR) though, so quicker than standard. Up to about 100mph I could stay in touch, but after that the Clios have the legs.

Better if a few corners are thrown in though, as this levels the playing field.
 


its not a claim, its a fact upto 80 im sure i could keep most 172s in there place, saying that, im gonna have you boys stacked up to race me at york he he, i want to take on a few as the power varys so much
 


I get Shortys point, there are some real nob-edds out there with the 106 GTis and seem to think they can take on the world. Just seems Shorty Knows them all!:p

griff thanks for you comments, by the looks of it you should be driving a 106gti, if you dont see my point.

Robfenn you are also right, there are these people who think the 106 gti /vts are 172 killers,

Its a shame you cant get your point across without it turning into a sl*ging match
 


Rob, he edited his last post, when i replied it said somat else, wont repeat it because he has obviously learnt the error of his ways.

I only just kept up with a 106GTI the other day from about 70 upwards. Dont know if it was standard or not, but i was running 17psi at that time

"ts the aggressive attitude that does it shorty, if youd have just poseted you beat one youd have got the thumbs up, but just writing how you killed them, and there w**kers sort of thing is what does it
 


i used to have a 106 gti and it was fast, but not that fast. If some gti owners think they can beat a car with 50 more bhp then they are living in a dream world!

They are nice cars and Id love to have another one - so dont think that all gti drivers are dicks! Ur bound to get drivers of any cars who think that they can beat others ie 2fast4u?
