Difference between HDTV and HDTV ready?

  Mégane RS
HDTV hasn't been launched in the uk yet so you wont see the benefit of it until the do launch it in april-may sometime, i think both support HDTV its just different ways of putting it

KDF

  Audi TT Stronic
The standards for HDTV havent been finalised yet.. so technically any TV that says HDTV ready is lying.. they could completly change the expected standards and it wouldnt work with any 'hdtv ready' television..

They wont ofcourse.. but thats why...

Thougth there were supposed to be 2 standards 720 and 1080?

Although seen HDTV's with only 1024x768 res max and it was still a widescreen tv using a max res designed for a 4:3 set.

they have finalised the hdtv resolutions but not the transmition standards

there are only really 4 hdtv standards 720p/i and 1080p/i

there is still debate on what compression will be used mpeg 2 or mpeg 4 but that only means you may need more than 1 decoder

You can buy DVD players with HDMI outputs, You would see the benefit from this. Sky is launching HD soon but the boxes are gonna be £300 - 400!!!

sport182 just because it has a hdmi output doesnt mean you will get a better picture than with progressive component say its all down to the source disc if there isnt the info there it cant do anything with it

so what im saying it cant make a s**t dvd look good but it can make a great dvd look a bit better

Sky already film sky sports 1 & 2 in HD and the BBC has started to film stuff in HD like Bleak House (?).

Surely a HD TV will be able to show any of the HD resolutions when the channesl are available?
