differences in 172 and 182 rear axle & rear hubs?



  Disco 3 &4 1993 mini
is there a difference in these or am i smoking something?
is the rear axle stiffer with a bar welded down it also are the rear discs different?

discs are the same, so are calipers

i think the 182 "might" have a few extra bits and bobs, nothing majore though from memory

stub axles are different too i believe

i didnt no if they were the same as the race car i.e the disc doesnt hous the bearing?

Cup race car is definatly different, the discs can be changed without the bearing. There is a seperate hub on the axle that the disc bolts onto.

yea i new how the race car one works just didnt know if it was the same as the 182 road car

The 182 has a 24mm roll bar (not sure what the 172 is). The track is also slightly widened and the suspension is strengthened but Im not sure how.

The 172mk1 rear axle is slightly different, it doesnt need the automatic thing for the headlight adjustment (assuming that is on the rear suspension). I think the rear trailing arm itself is always the same part, I would have thought the 182 hubs are slightly wider and stronger but Im unable to compair part numbers with a 182.
