need someone who can tell me all different colours of red that were avalible to have on a mk2 ph2 clio in 2001

bought a red bumper from a 2001 car, i have a red 2001 car and just wondering the chances of it being the same?

all the bumpers were the same price and going to need painted when i got it but bought this 1 as it wont look as bad to start with (need the car to drive to wales on friday so cant get it painted in time!) but on 2nd thoughts it might actually be the correct colour (it looks a different shade in the picture though!)

The chances are though that even if you get lucky & it is the same red, it might still be a different shade of that colour.

  Lots of Alfas
As above, theres about 8 shades of flame red iirc. SHouldnt notice too much if its the same colour though.

If its a 2001 it will be cherry red, the same as yours, theres a big difference between cherry and capsicum, flame wasn't available on the non sports till 2004.

so its the correct colour as i first thought just chances are its a different shade? how does this different shade patter work surely a colour is a colour?!

No, you get different shades of the colour, plus sunlight etc can fade paint. The chances of it being a 100% match are slim.

yeah i know its not going to be a 100% match its getting painted once i get back from wales on sunday just dont understand the different shades thing, i understand that sun, weather etc all fade it over time but surely the paint code being the same means a colour is a colour?

I know what your saying, for some reason it not like that though. If you go to a proper paint shop & give them the code, they are likely to give you a few pieces of card (swatches) with that colour on it, the amount they vary will be madness, you have to take the swtach thing to your car & pick out the one which best matches it.

yeah ive noticed that when ive been up at my mates bodyshop, just never fully understood it! lol ahh well if im driving about with a slightly different shade bumper for a week or 2 ill just need to get the car dirty lol

  Chelsea tractor
I always thought that paints are made up of loads of different pigments / solvents and hence each batch would always differ slightly
