Different roof ariels which fit a mk2 ph1 ?

As my roof ariel is a bout 12 feet long :dapprove: I quite fancy a nice shorter one,
what's best to get & where from ?? Obviously I don't want the radio quality to suffer.

Some pics would be great, this is the normal ariel at the front of the roof, non bee sting type.

I think nearest to CTR is a richbrook one they are about £20 and look cool check the website

T3RRY - do you know if a ctr one will fit on it ?? I tried my dads standard one from his mk2 172, but it was totally different the thread was a bit smaller too (plus it would have looked rubbish)

Does any one know the size of the standard thread ? so i know what to look at.

Dont think so mate the mk2 ph1 seems to be diff from the rest.

phase 1 is an m6 thread wheras the ph2 is a m5 thread.

Get an autoleads replacement aerial mast in a 6mm thread and it should fit.

autoleads do various, there's one which is black alloy and comes with both an m5 and m6 thread and two mast lengths.

Generally get better reception from a rubbery plastic aerial with a metal core. Try ebay and search for autoleads

The mk2ph1s have the same fitment as the Mk1 Clios, Halford sell all different aerials in different sizes.

Yeah I could do. I'll look into that if I don't find what I want, it may be easier (and cheaper) just to get one from a mk1 clio.

I've gone one now, half the size in length of the original one, it's looks a lot better.

I got one from Halfrauds for a tenner, looks loads better
I read different info on here & the v6 site (on here said 6mm thread - they had down 5mm) so I took a nut in with me which fitted the ariel, then tried it on the Halfrauds ariel before I bought it.
