Different Spotlights on Imports

Recently had a stone crack the drivers side front spot/fog light on my import 172. Got a mate who works in a motor factors and they also have a Renault dealership in the next county. i asked him to get me the light they sent the wrong one down but were adamant that it was the correct one for a UK 172. I had to remove the cracked light to get the number off the label. Apparently its off a scenic and costs £20 more than the other one making it about £58 in total.

Anyone else had any differences in parts for imports???

no, they are not different on an import, but the part numbers are the same for two different spots, one which is the correct one and one which is not.

they are very expensive from Renault (poss. £70 ish??) but from motor factors have had them for £40 something I think. I had loads of trouble getting one of mine from one of the motor factor places, had to take it back 3 times, and each time they swore it was the right one!!!

but at the end of the day it is not different on an import to a UK car.

at the factory in france, does anyone really think that reno directors were in a meeting one day a couple of years ago and had the following conversation "now that brokers are appearing in the uk, lets set up a completely different prodution line solely for import brokers" I think not!!! its the same car off the same line made for the uk spec . dealer cars come off the production line with no alarms!!!, they are put on when the car lands at portmouth etc.. the only difference is the first stamp in the book is from reno france for the first check.. Oh and peoples misguided views that you are buying some sort of weird kit car type vehicle if youve gone down the broker route.. nuff said!!!

However I was sent the first spotlight from a Renault dealer on the details given to them from my vin plate. They reckoned the spotlight they first sent me was the correct one for a 172. It was nothing like the one fitted to my car. different mounting brackets and a lot bigger.

this second light will hopefully be the right one. I am waiting delivery of it.

So I am none thewiser at the moment. Would be interesting to see a UK car against an import to check.
